A Short Documentary from Pakistan Awarded the Title 'SilDistance Video of the Year'

Tormented Souls, a short documentary on violence against women in Pakistan has been awarded the title SilDistance Video of the Year 2011. The documentary was written and directed by Fawad Baig, a SilDistance participant from Pakistan. Mr Baig, who also works as a programme producer for PTV, Pakistan Television Corporation, did the documentary as part of his final project for SilDistance Fundamentals of Social Filmmaking Programme, a 12 week long distance learning programme of Silver Lining Creation Ry, Finland.   


An evaluation committee applied a range of criteria that ranged from importance of the topic to creativey and technical clarity before granting the title to Tormented Souls. In total 7 documentaries had competed for the title. 

 

The title SilDistance Video of the Year is awarded to the best selected documentary or a short film submitted by SilDistance participants as their final project. The award includes a letter of appreciation and materails that help the winner to excel in social filmmaking. SilDistance is Silver Lining Creation's distance learning portal where selected students particulary from the developing countries have the opportunity learn, share and hone their skills on social filmmaking.
