Global South Development Magazine has extended its hands to a student initiated media awareness campaign that seeks to promote an ‘informed reporting’ of the developing world.
Named as Informed Reporting, the campaign was designed and initiated by 6 young students from the University of Helsinki and the University of Vaasa who met this autumn through a media course called ‘Journalism for Social Change’.
The campaign website (http://www.informedreporting.org) has been formally launched today. The site offers a platform that has the potential of bringing together development journalists and media activists both from the Global South and Global North. The campaigners claim that the platform will help development as well as citizen journalists to share their knowledge and experiences in reporting the developing world. In addition, they will have the chance to engage in a meaningful dialogue and discussion.
As a partner organization, Global South Development Magazine will be promoting the campaign’s activities in the days to come.
