The one day event was held at the premises of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, Järvenpää-Finland, on Wednesday.

Dozens of students, teachers and other professionals donated money throughout the day for the humanitarian cause. As the event was organized in association with the Finnish Red Cross, all donation boxes were handed over to local Red Cross officials afterwards. Finnish Red Cross along with other aid agencies has already been operating one of the most active and effective relief campaigns in flood affected Pakistani hinterlands.

Earlier in mid August, Silcreation executive board had decided to respond to the natural disaster in Pakistan by taking fundraising initiatives and raisinga wareness through the use of modern means of mass communication and social networking sites. Silcreation’s coordinator for Humanitarian Assistance and Human Rights Promotion Saila Ohranen was given the responsibility of humanitarian assistance initiatives. Silcreation’s Executive Director Manoj Bhusal and Coordinator Sudip Joshi also participated the fundraising event.

At the moment Pakistan has been grappling with the worst natural disaster in its history. The deadly floods have claimed more than two thousand lives damaging almost a million homes. More than 20 million people have been directly affected by the floods. The United Nations has requested $460 million for emergency relief – in other words, money to provide the most basic necessities in the short term like food, temporary shelter, clean water and health care.Several aid agencies have responded to the disaster by launching emergency relief campaigns, but reports say the effort has been scanty given the colossal damage caused by the disaster.

Individuals, institutions and friends and supporters of Silcreation willing to help the flood victims in Pakistan are requested to contact humanitarian aid agencies such as Red Cross, Save the Children, Oxfam in their home countries. Please contact Silcreation’s Coordinator for Humanitarian Assistance and Human Rights Promotion Saila Ohranen for further information.

The documentary is based on one declining ethnic minority group of Nepal called ‘Bankaria’. The Bankarias were 'found' in the jungle of the malarious valley of Chure Hill on the top of Hadikhola in a very vulnerable condition nearly about a decade ago by some journalists.Nobody knows how many generations they have spent their life in the jungle and have remained unidentified. But this tiny group of 70 members were 'rescued' from the jungle and resettled in homes. However, they are not still far from the jungle and safe from a steephill stream.

The documentary features their experiences of living in the jungle and, portrays, most importantly, their genuine struggle for rights, justice, dignity and a big phrase ‘actual Identity’. Moreover, it also talks about the efforts made by different organizations to improve their situations and a mild criticism on development.

The Bankarias(2010) an indigenous tale was written and directed by Silcreation's Assistant Director Som Chaulagai.
