Silver Lining Creation Ry is a not-for-profit social media organization based in Finland. Briefly named as Silcreation, the organization consists of independent documentary makers, script writers, development activists, freelance writers and students. We believe that means of mass communications such as the visual media can be used as effective tools of experience sharing, knowledge disseminating, motivation building and thought provoking.

International cooperation has been one of the main priorities of the organization as its presence has been continuously increasing in different parts of the world. In cooperation with our partner organizations and Silcr

eation branches, we have been offering a platform for sharing experiences, disseminating knowledge and raising awareness.

We are not a closed group. Everybody can be part of us and work with us, but he or she needs to abide by some terms, conditions and ethics that we have developed for this group. We use social media, the internet, and public as well as private agencies to disseminate our work.

We wish to work with organizations from all over the world who have committed themselves to social justice, sustainable development, equity, human rights and environmental protection. We encourage youth organizations, community media institutions, NGOs and self-help groups to work together with us. We also welcome individuals who have innovative ideas and want to expand their skills and expertise. If you are interested in the projects initiated by Silcreation, you can be a part of the organization by applying for its membership. Organizations can also send a request for partnership or country representation.

Documentaries & Short Films

We make documentaries and short films mainly on social, cultural and environmental issues. Our documentaries and short films are screened at different film festivals and documentary shows we frequently organize in different parts of the world. Our products are also bought by academic institutions, non-profit organizations, public libraries and interested individuals.

We also provide community media and basic videography training to community based organizations (CBOs) and youth groups in developing countries.

The money obtained from screening and sell of our products is spent on different educational projects in the developing countries. Silcreation products can be bought online from this site. Visit our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/silcreation to take a glimpse of our different products.

Distance Learning Programme on Social Filmmaking

Silcreation offers a twelve-week long distance learning program on Social Flmmaking. The course is offered completely online and is free of charge. A limited number of students are selected for the program on the basis of application documents and a written essay.

We are interested in a wide range of global issues, but our primary focus is on the issues of developing countries. So the applicant for this programme should either come from a developing country or should be able to show his or her interest in the developing world. We also welcome applicants who work or intend to work with indigenous communities, ethnic minorities, women and in environmentally hazardous regions.

This program is most suited for university students, humanitarian aid/relief workers, community, NGO and advocacy workers, environmental activists, community media workers, independent filmmakers and script writers. You can obtain a full description of the programme on request. For further information contact the SilDistance team at sildistance@silcreation.org

Green Dreams

When the world is grappling with harsh realities of climate change and global warming, it is essential that there should be more awareness raising activities, critical debates, academic research and knowledge dissemination to protect our environment and minimize the effects of climate change.

Green Dreams is an environmental campaign initiated by Silver Lining Creation for environmental protection and better understanding of vulnerabilities faced by different populations on the planet due to climatic changes. The campaign promotes rigorous academic research and critical debates on today’s environmental issues and uses the new age media for awareness raising, lobbying and pressure building. The activities also involve promotion and exposure of the traditional knowledge system and ecological management skills used in indigenous communities to combat climatic fluctuations and changes.
